In 1 Kings Solomon becomes king of Israel after David died. In 1 Kings 3 Solomon sees God in a dream and God said: “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”. In verse 9 Solomon responds “Give me an understanding mind so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great nation of yours?”
Of all the things that Solomon could’ve asked for, he asked for wisdom to better govern Israel. He didn’t ask for money, fame, or any other temporal things, because of this God gave Him wisdom along with those things he didn’t ask for- honor and wealth.
So how does this relate to us today? We can do the same as Solomon did.
James 1:5 says: “If you need wisdom-if you want to know what God wants you to do-ask him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking.”
Draw near to God because He is the source of all wisdom, ask Him to grant you wisdom and He will give it to you- all you need to do is ask Him.
