Today while I was driving to work I started listening to a sermon. The pastor begins talking about a man who was tailgating an old woman in traffic who had an ‘Honk if you love Jesus’ bumpersticker on the back of her car. The man then honks the horn at her because he loves Jesus. Then the woman responds by sticking her hand out the window and flipping him off. You may be wondering, like I was when I first heard this, what does this have to do with God? Just keep reading.
Then the pastor said something that I found shocking, he said that whenever we choose not to obey God we are basically giving God the middle finger. My first reaction was protest, I thought to myself: “I wouldn’t give God the middle finger, I wouldn’t disrespect Him in that way.” But then I had to check myself, I was protesting and making excuses because I knew that the pastor was right.
Needless to say, I had to stop and repent about my disobedience.
So, what area of your life does God want you to surrender to Him? Is it your money, your relationships, your attitude? For me personally, it’s my time. Many days I like to just come home and turn to comatose in front of the t.v. but this isn’t glorifying to God. So lately, I’ve been trying to read the Bible more and just spend more time with God on a daily basis.
So, what area of your life do you need to obey God in?
