Are we there yet?

It’s been quite a while since I last posted something, so here we go:

Lately, I’ve been talking with friends and we’ve been discussing how it would be nice to see our entire future the way that God sees it. It would be so nice if God were to take his blueprint for my life and show me exactly what I’ll be doing in a month, a year, 10 years. But God doesn’t work that way.

This morning I was reading my Bible and in the book of Judges there’s another person who has the same problem that I do. Manoah’s wife Zorah had been visited by an angel telling her that she’s going to have a child. When Manoah sees the angel he asks him “Now when your words come true, what is to be the child’s manner of life, and what is his mission?” (Judges 13:12) He wants to know what the plan is for his kid, but the angel won’t tell him that. I have a feeling that if the angel would’ve told him that his son would die killing 3000 Philistines Manoah might not have liked the plan very much.

That’s just like us. If God were to show us the entire plan, we might not like it right now, or we might try to skip some steps in order to get to our goal. God knows best and our job is to trust in Him.

Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths. Proverbs 3:5-6

Instead of wanting to know God’s entire plan for your life, focus on trusting in Him during the journey, and taking comfort in the fact that He is the one directing you.
