Faithfulness

This morning I was reading the book of Lamentations. This book was written after the fall of Jerusalem and the destruction of the temple. The writer is making his case to God, and mourning the sins of the people, but in the middle of the 3rd chapter he writes some verses that jump out to me every time I read this book.

“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases, His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” -Lamentations 3:22-23

I know that most people have heard these verses before and might just pass over them, but don’t! There is so much good news in those two verses, that it would be a shame to pass over them.

God is faithful to us even when we are unfaithful towards Him. Because He is faithful, we can trust in His promises, like the promise to forgive our sins if we confess them to Him (1 John 1:9). Thank God that He is merciful to us, and His mercies are new every morning! So, if you’ve been unfaithful to God (hint: we all have) don’t be afraid to come to Him. Run to Him! Confess your sins, and we can be sure that He will forgive us and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness. You don’t have to be afraid because He is merciful and faithful.

Thank God for His enduring faithfulness!
