This week I’ve been thinking a lot about life and how that relates to God’s plan. How our situations or circumstances fit in with God’s purpose for our lives. I know that I talk about this a lot, but it’s been on my heart lately, and it’s a truth that we all need to be reassured of from time to time.
Right now I’m living in a new city, attending a new school, hanging out with new people, trying to find a new job, and attending a different church. God took me out of my comfort zone, away from my home, my church, the people that I love and who support me, and placed me in a completely new environment. Sometimes I find myself thinking “but… why? God, why is this necessary? Why am I here?” The answer, I believe, is that He’s going to use this time for me to grow, to get rid of those sins or things that hinder me, and provide an opportunity to glorify and trust Him. I also believe that this is an opportunity for me to rely wholly on Him, instead of my church, my friends, my job, my comfort zone or my strength.
Maybe you’re in a situation like me. You’re asking God “Why? Why am I in this situation?” The answer may be that He is going to be repairing and preparing you for that next step. That you need to go through some experiences in order for you to move on to that next thing He has planned for you. It may be to teach you something about God and His love for you. Or to show you His glory despite the situation around you. It may be an opportunity to reach someone or impact them for God in a way that would be impossible under any other circumstances. We don’t know why we go through things, our job is to trust in God, because He knows. His plan is established, and will not falter at all.
Matthew 11:6 “Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me.”
No matter what your situation, trust God. He will allow situations in your life for your benefit and His glory. Our job is to not fall away, it is to endure, which can only be accomplished by looking to God. So, my question to you is: are you focused on your circumstance or your God who is bigger than that circumstance?
