I think that many times as Christians we hear something from God, but are reluctant to do what He’s telling us to do for some reason. Sometimes it’s fear or pride or our insecurities that hold us back. This is why I was impressed with Abram’s reaction when God called him. Genesis 12:1 says:
“Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you.”
Verse 4 goes on to say “So Abram went, as the Lord had told him…”
This is amazing to me! Abram was a moon-worshipper along with his family, he didn’t know or believe in God. But when God called him, and told him what to do, Abram had no choice but to obey. There was no other option, God said “go”, so he went. Also, God told him to leave his family and go to a foreign land, to leave everything that he knew and go into a new and uncomfortable situation. Despite this, Abram’s only choice was to trust in God and obey.
This is what we need to do: trust God and obey. It sounds so simple, doesn’t it? When you hear that still soft voice of God, don’t question what He’s telling you to do, just obey. I struggle with this a lot, but thank God that He is merciful and patient with me (and you too!).
So, when you hear from God do you trust and obey, or question?
