Lately I’ve been in pretty a bad mood; going through kind of a “funk”. This could be for a number of reasons: it’s hot, I’m stressed, etc. But none of those are the real reason: lack of intimacy with God. I’ve allowed myself to become so busy that I’ve neglected the most important thing, spending time with God.
So, this morning as I was getting ready I was listening to prayer music, worshipping God and this verse came to my mind:
“This is the day the Lord has made. We will rejoice and be glad in it” -Psalm 118:24
This verse in incredibly simple, but I think it can also be very powerful in our lives. We should just rejoice and be glad because we are living another day. No matter what that day looks like: whether you’re poor, rich, married, single, no matter the weather or your profession, we should still rejoice and be glad for the day. God has granted us one more day of life on this earth and we should be thankful for that.
No matter what your situation looks like, be glad. If you can’t, change your attitude. I’m struggling with this very subject, so I know it’s a lot easier said than done. Even though it’s tough to do, we (me included) should work on this. Try and find the “silver lining” in your situation, look for the good in the midst of the bad and praise God for that thing. I believe if we simply praise God on a regular basis our hearts will be changed, we’ll go deeper in our relationships with God, and we’ll enjoy life more!
So, have you been focused on the good in your situation, or consumed by the bad?
