I Am Loved

Posted by

A need for love is hardwired into each human being. We were created to love and to be loved. I used to work at a pre-school and it was amazing to me how many of these children just wanted someone to love on them. They yearned for affirmation, safety, and acceptance. Once they had that, many of them would behave and do their work better. I feel like this is true for adults as well. When I know that I am loved, valued, cared for, etc. I naturally do better.

I’m going to let you in on a little secret: you are loved. Now read it like you believe it, say it out loud if you have to: “I am loved”. You are loved by the Almighty God, the creator of the universe. This morning as I was thinking about this I was reminded of the verses in Matthew 7:9-11 that say:

“Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks you for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him!”

As Christians, God is our father. Romans 8 talks about us calling him “Abba, Father” which is like calling him “Daddy”. This is something that I still struggle with because of my strained relationship with my earthly father. Even though this is a hard concept for me to grasp, God is patient with me and still loves me when I try to run away or I doubt these truths.

Lately I’ve been really focused on money and my future. I’ve been concerning myself with how I’m going to do this or that. I’ve been stressing myself out about these things for weeks. But today I was reminded that I am loved by my Daddy God. I don’t need to stress and worry about what’s next because my Heavenly Father knows. He is a good, loving God who has my best interests in mind. I know that I am Loved, which gives me the confidence and courage to go after my dreams. I know who my God is and how He feels about me, so I have nothing to fear.

I just wanted to take some time to encourage you and I pray that  you would really believe these truths: You are cherished by the Lord. God sees you as the apple of his eye. You are precious and important. You are loved.

  1. Love this Sarah! I can relate to the part about having trouble seeing God as our Abba Father because of my relationship with my earthly father. He’s been teaching me to trust Him when I’m not sure what’s going to happen next. He loves you and has amazing dreams for you! He sees you and knows you by name. Keep sharing your heart, it’s encouraging and inspiring!
