Get Creative!

I love the creativity of the Lord! If you don’t see it or know what I’m talking about, just take a few moments to look around you. Look at nature, look at your neighbor, look at yourself: each of these things took time, care, and creativity to make.

I believe the best place to find inspiration is in the presence of God. Why, oh why, would we try and generate ideas out of nowhere when we have direct access to the one who dreamed up and created the world we interact with daily?! We often associate peace and love and hope with God’s presence, but why not creativity? He was, after all, the one who made you and me and the entire universe! As much as he is mercy and justice and perfection, he is also creativity.

Have you ever hung out with a person who was so creative you couldn’t help but leave their presence with your creativity well filled to the brim? I believe this is how it is with the Lord! It’s not that we come to him so that we can be more creative but, because it’s part of his character, we can get a dose of creativity from just being in his presence.

This post isn’t a long one for a reason because I want you to take a few moments in his presence and see what happens. It could be that you leave inspired to paint or draw or compose or build something. Or you could leave with an out of the box way to solve a problem at work or a solution to handling your unruly child. Creativity is more than just being able to paint or sing or do something artistic; creativity is seen every day in a lot of ordinary settings.

You are able to be creative and you have access to Creativity himself, why not take some time today to explore that part of His character?
