The book of Ephesians is one of my all-time favorites. I will often return to it and just spend some time letting the truth of God’s grace, mercy, and love wash over me. I encourage you to read through it again today (or this week) as you are able. Sit with it and make some space for God to speak to you.
Today, I want to pray Ephesians 3 over the church. Of all the things that Paul could have prayed for the church at Ephesus, he prayed that they would understand the immense love of God toward them. He knew how vitally important the knowledge of the love of God is in the life of a believer.
What amazes me is that in Revelation 2, we read that God’s judgment toward the Ephesian church was that they forgot their first love! Paul’s prayer for this group of people was spot on!
As I look at what’s going on around us today, I feel like those verses in Revelation apply to us today. We have forgotten our first love. We have lost sight of the all-encompassing love of God.
Today, I am praying that we would understand God’s immense love for us. Once we understand that core truth, it can change how we live.
God, thank you for allowing me to call you ‘father’. Thank you for welcoming me into your family. I ask that you would strengthen your people through the power of your Spirit. Increase our faith in you. Root and ground us in you—root and ground us in truth. Help us understand the great love with which you love us. Reveal to us the length, height, width, and depth of your surpassing love. Fill us to overflowing with experiential knowledge of your goodness, grace, and love for us. You are far greater than we can ever imagine; increase our awe and wonder of you. May you be glorified in the church. Amen.
How can you remain aware of God’s love for you today?
What is God saying to you?
Thanks for sharing this… May we return to the ancient landmark of God’s love
