Suffering 101: Empowered to Endure
The act of suffering isn’t joyful or pleasant, but it helps us maintain our dependence upon God.

The act of suffering isn’t joyful or pleasant, but it helps us maintain our dependence upon God.
I wonder if the refining fire of suffering for Christ might be an essential part of the sanctification process that the American church is largely missing out on.
Maybe, as we live like Jesus and suffer for his name, we’ll feel a deeper connection to the other parts of the body of Christ.
Our lives should be Jesus-focused and, when we do that, suffering will naturally come to find us. And, when it does, we can choose to rejoice because of who our God is.
We don’t suffer because we enjoy it or seek it out, but because we, like Jesus, are focused on the radical mission of God.
Let’s choose to focus on God and his kingdom, knowing that when we do, suffering is likely to follow.
Though I would much rather write about cheery topics, I feel so strongly that suffering is what God is highlighting for me right now.
