Suffering 101: Shifting Expectations
We don’t suffer because we enjoy it or seek it out, but because we, like Jesus, are focused on the radical mission of God.
My thoughts as I journey through this thing called life.

I believe the Sabbath is a sweet invitation to take a breath. To stop. To enjoy God. And to trust him.
Even though it goes against my natural inclinations, I am called to be a servant.

Jesus took the uncomfortable path to find and love the most unloveable. He went out of his way for me. Now I can go out of my way for others.
No matter how powerful it seems, darkness cannot triumph over the light.
I wonder how our lives might change if we adopted a posture of beholding him more regularly.
God isn’t frustrated or annoyed when we bring the small things of life to him.
Truth without love can be harsh and critical.
Honesty with empathy is welcoming and kind.
I’m thankful that Jesus went first, so all I have to do is respond to his unending love.
